"If you know me at all, you know my thoughts on this band. They are the best band of all time with their combination of strong, overpowering lyrics matched perfectly with an onslaught of guitars, drums, sampling, and about anything on earth you can find is turned into an instrument (even beer kegs!). Wearing masks to both scare the living shit out of you and to protect their anonymity (the real reason they wear them is to show that it doesn't matter who you are or what you look like), this band is more unique than anyone you'll see these days. Slipknot puts on the best live show you will ever see in your life, and where are they from? That's right, the same place as me - Iowa. Corey has an amazing voice. Joey is a fantastic drummer, and is also in the group the Murderdolls (who suck ass). Corey and James are in Stone Sour. I believe Shawn has a side project going now as well, but I'm not certain about what it's like. These guys are very musically talented. They have four albums and a DVD out, however only 3 of those cd's are available to the public as Mate, Feed, Kill, Repeat was privately released. Rumor has it this will be the final Slipknot album as their record contract is up after this one. Personally, I can relate to each and every lyric written by this band. Tales of pain, love, lies, and lack of trust are the motifs of each of these songs. Screaming along with these lyrics allows me to vent my frustration into the air as opposed to through violence upon other people.
Slipknot does not get a lot of radio play due to their heavy style. They have toned-down versions of Wait and Bleed and My Plague that they somehow got on MTV, but the toned-down-ness of those songs sucks, so you need to listen to the originals on the album. Slipknot has been nominated for 3 Grammy's I believe, but the damn academy must fear people with masks getting on stage, so they give the Grammy's to shitty bands like Linkin Park or fan-friendly and predictable Metallica instead. Hopefully the forthcoming album will be able to shake that mold."
